Angeles City is located in the province of Pampanga in the Central Luzon Region of the Philippines. It is situated north of Manila, the nation’s capital and largest city. There are two major routes going to Angeles City if you are coming from Manila. First is the old McARTHUR HIGHWAY and the second is the modern NORTH LUZON EXPRESSWAY (NLEX). The latter is the best way going to Angeles because traffic is much heavier in McArthur Highway as a consequence of its narrow and very busy passageway.
You can travel by BUS on both routes going to Angeles. Many terminals with air conditioned buses are scattered in the metropolitan are and are plying the routes daily. Although it is more economical to travel by bus, it is much faster and convenient if you are to use a CAR using NLEX. Buses usually take much longer because of the many stopovers they have to take along the way.
Because of its proximity to the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (approximately 5 kilometers from the city proper) Angeles City is also accessible by plane. Airlines like Cebu Pacific, Tiger Airways, Asiana, Sea Air, and Air Asia have regular flights and are serving both international and domestic destinations. Currently the airport serves 400,000 passengers annually.
There are several mode of transportation to choose among the following: JEEPNEYS, TRICYCLES (motorcycle with side car), PEDICAB(Bicycle with a side car), and the rare CALESA(Horse-drawn carriages). The jeepneys which are color coded ply the major routes of the city and all lead to the downtown. They can also connect you to nearby towns and cities. Although the other three are usually used for very short trips and frequently only the narrower streets and residential areas, the jeepneys are still more affordable because the services of the three lighter vehicles are more personal; they take you to your exact destination.
